Today I am going to review 2 affordable, high-quality lipsticks from Wet n Wild MegaLast range in the shade Mocha-licious and Cherry Picking. BTW, it has been so long that I did a makeup review!
These are the first and only ones I have from their MegaLast range but I am so impressed by them that I will be buying a few more. God, they are all so pretty!
Price: ₹295 for 3.3g
It comes in a black tube with a transparent cap which shuts tight with a click. I am so afraid of dropping it and that doesn’t mean I haven’t already! It didn’t break, I got lucky that day.
The plastic is very fragile and messy, the lipstick transfers to the cap and I have wiped the container with makeup remover for the blog post pictures! But I will gladly ignore that because I love the product quality and the attractive price tag.
Also, both the shades have slightly different packaging and I bought them together. I don’t know why but anyway!
The product claims to stay put for 4 hours but that’s a blatant lie! It really goes up to 6-7 hours with fading in the inner centre part of lips after a meal, otherwise, they fade evenly and leave a tint behind.
The more pigmented the shade, the higher is the staying power. How often do you see brands claiming for less than what they offer? But being a matte lipstick, they do start to settle into the fine lines of lips after 3-4 hours.
They don’t have any smell to them so a plus point for people who have a sensitive nose!
Texture and Application
Both the shades offer a demi-matte cream finish which is more on the matte side. It does become more matte with time. It doesn’t cause any tugging on lips and applies smoothly. It’s not at all drying and you can easily skip a lip balm unless you have really chapped lips.
One swipe (of the lighter shades too) is all you need even if you have pigmented lips, the opacity of these lipsticks is that amazing! They also don’t bleed.
Here I have swatched both the shades on my hands and one swipe is all I did.
Now coming to the individual shades,
This is a beautiful nude brown shade with mauve undertones. Looks like a brownish nude shade on people who have Olive skin tone like me and is also known to be a dupe of MAC Verve Lipstick (A cruelty-free option with less than one-fifth of the price. What else do we need?) This is a really good lipstick for college going girls and for those who work.
It stays put for 4-5 hours and doesn’t transfer much. It leaves a tint behind after fading uniformly.
The colour looks slightly dark and cool toned in person and not as creamy as in the picture. My camera wasn’t capturing the exact shade.
A very gorgeous true magenta shade which looks good on every skin tone and brings out the warmth of us brown girls. This is really pigmented and transfers more than the previous shade. But a little blotting and reapplying reduce the problem.
Stays put for around 6-7 hours with fading on inner centre after heavy meals. The colour payoff is crazy and one swipe is all you need.
This shade is so beautiful, it can completely transform your look. It brightens up your face and looks good on a casual day out as well as for a night out with your girlfriends.
Taking this one off is a pain. You need an oil-based makeup remover or just some oil to take it off. I use Garnier Micellar Water and I can see little tint that it fails to remove.
If you’re looking for a demi-matte finish affordable lipstick with good staying power, these Wet n Wild MegaLast Lip Colors are an amazing choice. The shade range is huge (29!), and you can definitely find more than a few that’ll work great on you.
I can’t think of any con apart from the packaging. It could have been less messy.
The brand is cruelty-free, both these shades are vegan and they don’t contain paraben.
I am so tempted to get more shades, but I need to control myself. So I’ll probably just get 2. (Maybe)
Which one is your favourite? Have you tried any lipstick from this range?
If these still don’t suit your budget, have a look at these Elle 18 lipsticks which are just ₹100 each.
