Today’s review is of a pressed powder from Sugar. I got it last year when it was just launched and is a part of my project pan as well. Since I’ve had it for almost a year now, I think I could write a fair review of this product. Read below to know how it worked for me.
Price: ₹699 for 9g
Available in 3 shades: 01 Latte (Light), 02 Cappuccino (Light-Medium), 03 Macchiato (Medium) There’s nothing for deeper shades.
Packaging and texture: It comes in a chic cardboard box with black square case and shuts easily with a click. The packaging is really portable and has some weight to it. Travel-safe and comes with a mirror and soft sponge for application. The powder is finely milled and packed really well inside the case. It doesn’t have a very powdery formula so it will take you a while to get through it, which is a good thing. It feels very light on the skin.
Application and staying power: It applies beautifully to my skin and has a really soft velvet texture. Pat it on your skin with the sponge and blend out the streaks, if any. The powder gives a matte finish but it’s not drying matte. A healthy glow and evened out skin and is ideal for people with combination to oily skin. Keeps face oil-free for 4 hours after which my T-zone starts to get oily so I need to blot it and do some touch-ups (I am talking about the summers). It also comes with an SPF15 which provides added sun protection.
Coverage: This is a sheer coverage powder which evens out skin and imparts a healthy glow. It does not provide a heavy coverage if you’re looking for that but you can build it up to medium coverage. Since it is so sheer and lightweight, it works amazing as a setting powder for your base makeup. I like the finish it gives to my skin as I am not looking for a high coverage powder, just something to set my makeup or even out my skin on regular no makeup days and provide oil control.
If you can see the swatch, it matches my skin colour beautifully.
Some people might find it pricey for the coverage offered but it really is amazing for the quality and quantity. Also, the non-powdery and tightly packed texture will give you a lot of usages which justifies the price point. You can definitely get another good powder at a lower price range if you want.
Works well as setting powder
Sturdy, portable packaging
Evens out skin
Comes with a mirror
Gives skin-like finish
Not for people who want high coverage
Deeper shades should be available
Won’t be considering the price as a con because all sugar products are priced at a similar range.
Conclusion: A really good pressed powder for people with oily skin, light-weight, feels like skin and didn’t break me out! Also, did you see how close is the shade match? Have been using this for so long and will repurchase when it’s over.
