According to you, what’s the best anti-ageing cream? Well, a lot of people might say retinol and I won’t disagree but think a little more… Dermatologists around the world consider sunscreen to be the best anti-ageing treatment! And I agree; Prevention is better than cure.
But I regularly come across people who avoid sunscreen because of various reasons like white cast, redness, heaviness, etc. So when I received this sunscreen from Purito as a gift, turning to my blog to tell the world about this beauty was mandatory!
No matter your skin type and condition, the Purito Centella Green Level Unscented Sunscreen might make you fall in love with sunscreens, in general. Read on to know why.
Price: INR 1,250 (USD 18.90) for 60ml

My Thoughts on Purito Centella Unscented Sunscreen
Basically, I love almost everything about this sunscreen! It’s cruelty-free, vegan, moisturising, non-irritating, doesn’t leave a white cast and is moderately-priced in such a classic and minimal packaging.
I have a lot to say *deep breathing* Let’s start!
The Purito is a chemical/organic sunscreen that uses two newer photostable UV filters: Diethylamino Hydroxybenzoyl Hexyl Benzoate (Uvinul A Plus that absorbs UVA rays) and Ethylhexyl Triazone (Uvinul T 150 that absorbs UVB rays).
If you’re someone who has been avoiding chemical sunscreens due to the presence of oxybenzone, this one by Purito is a great option!
This unscented sunscreen is a modification of their ‘Centella Green Level Safe Sun’. They have let go of Lavender and Roman chamomile essential oils to make this a more sensitive-skin friendly sunscreen. This just shows how much they value customer feedback.
This sunscreen also has some amazing skincare ingredients like Niacinamide, Glycerin, Centella Extracts, Hyaluronic Acid, Vitamin E etc to hydrate and strengthen the skin.
The Purito Centella sunscreen comes in a brown cardboard box that’s made with recycled paper. You’ll find product details like ingredients list and directions on the box and once you spread it, you’ll find all you need to know about the brand. I found this very thoughtful, it shows what the brand stands for!
Inside is the white tube with a matte finish that mentions a few high-points of the product. It’s a screw cap with a narrow dispenser so you can control the amount you take out.
Texture & Smell
The slightly off-white coloured sunscreen has a very, very creamy texture that spreads like a dream without any tugging. When you apply this, it feels like you’re applying a rich moisturiser that has a lot of emollients.
The unscented sunscreen is devoid of any added fragrance or essential oils and even the raw ingredients’ smell has been completely masked. If you’re someone like me who doesn’t like their skincare to have any smell, this would be awesome!
How does it work?
I’ve always had trouble finding a sunscreen that ticks all the boxes but the Purito Unscented Sunscreen at least fulfilled my most important requirements: No white cast, No redness or any irritation, Cruelty-free, Easy-to-spread texture.
Now let’s talk about each of it in detail along with the one small thing that I do not like about this sunscreen.
The Centella unscented sunscreen gives absolutely no white cast or causes any kind of irritation or burn to my sensitive skin. I also like its creamy texture that sinks into the skin. I’ve used sunscreens that just keep moving on the skin’s surface and take forever to sink in which is a pain.
If you have dry skin, your skin is just going to drink it. It’s very hydrating! Normal skin types should ideally skip moisturiser because the sunscreen would be enough. However, the combination to oily skin types need to do a little extra work and I’ll tell you why.
I live in a coastal area with usually 70% humidity and that makes my oily skin oilier. Now, this sunscreen is super hydrating and gives a moist finish that also feels a little tacky and makes the face look shiny.
But it’s nothing that a setting powder can’t take care of. So if you have oily skin living in such weather, this is just a heads up.
The sunscreen offers an SPF of 50+ along with PA++++ which is the highest PA rating (protection from UVA rays). To know more about what all this means, check out this post, 10 SPF Facts You Need To Know!
How to use?
Use these three fingers on your face (two) and neck (one) at the last step of your skincare routine and before starting makeup. Do reapply every 2-3 hours if you’re out in the sun all day. As this provides a slightly tackier base, it’d work as a primer too.
Since I have oily skin and live in a coastal area, I cleanse my face in the morning and apply the sunscreen. Some days I’ll use Pixi Vitamin C toner because it’s like water and gives some anti-oxidants benefits. But cleanser+sunscreen is my usual way to go!
I always set it with a face powder like Sugar As Nude As It Gets to reduce the shine. In fact, after dusting the powder, I get a glow from within look that makes my skin appear healthy and it doesn’t really feel heavy.
The Purito Centella Green Level Unscented SPF is something I’d recommend to every skin type, including oily. I know it gets really hard to find a decently priced, cruelty-free sunscreen that doesn’t make you look like a white-ghost (because not every day is Halloween). And this formula is something everyone can appreciate.
I’d definitely like to try more sunscreens, including the other variants from Purito to know what works the best for my skin type. But if I don’t find something (more) mind-blowing, this is the one I can see myself coming back to over and over.
