Hello! Today I’m going to review the best moisturiser for oily skin I’ve ever used. Psst… It’s super-affordable and cruelty-free!
Being someone with oily skin, finding a good moisturizer becomes a herculean task. With so many brands claiming to miraculously change your skin, it’s disappointing when they can’t even moisturize without breaking you out or adding gallons of oil to your oil-secreting reservoir.
I’ve been trying different moisturizers meant for oily-skin and Aroma Magic Juniper Berry Oil-Free Moisturiser has turned out to be exactly what I wanted.
Price: ₹190 for 100ml
I got it from Nykaa but they’re available at Amazon, Nykaa, Aromamagic.com and Beauty Stores near your place.
About the brand
Blossom Kochhar Aroma Magic is the largest Aromatherapy brand in India. Their product uses traditional methods in its making and combines the science of aromatherapy, which includes extracting oils from plants, flowers and seeds.
Product Description & Ingredients
It says that the moisturizer has SPF15 but not many details have been provided whether it provides UVA or UVB protection or both or its PA factor. So don’t rely on it for sun protection, wear a separate SPF! Anyway, SPF15 is never enough…NEVER!
I’ve had good experiences with Aroma Magic products in the past and was looking for a good moisturiser, that’s when I stumbled upon this one. Trusting Blossom Kochhar and her magical products, I ordered it without checking any review. Being completely free of harmful ingredients is what makes the brand special, in my opinion.
It comes in a small, transparent plastic bottle which is sturdy and travel-friendly. The container has a pump dispenser which makes it easy-to-use and hygienic. Since the bottle is transparent, it’s easier to see how much quantity is left.
Texture & Smell
The moisturizer is very lightweight and transparent. It’s just like water but more viscous in the formulation. This is not sticky or greasy and has a runny texture. It feels like I’m spreading water on my face when I apply it and it gets absorbed quickly giving me a soft and supple skin.
Also, it doesn’t feel heavy at all. In fact, you’d feel as if you haven’t applied anything on your face. This has a very mild smell which doesn’t bother my sensitive nose and disappears after application.
How Does It Work?
This super lightweight beauty gets absorbed quickly and gives me a very soft, well-moisturized skin. With continuous usage, I’ve noticed my skin acting better and being hydrated. I do skip it at times, I’m not going to lie, when I’m in hurry or just sleepy.🙈
I have very sensitive, acne-prone skin and it didn’t break me out, neither did it add gallons of oil to my already oily face. It doesn’t give a drying matte finish either, just the right amount of moisturisation.
Coming to whether it helps to keep the oils at bay, I honestly don’t know! I have oily skin and it’ll do its job — secrete sebum. So I don’t expect any moisturiser to drastically reduce sebum production.
Regulation of sebum is dependent on a lot of factors like your diet, your skincare routine, etc and a single basic product can’t just come and change that. (I’m excluding actives from this conversation! They do some astounding things. )
It doesn’t provide heavy-duty moisturisation if you’re looking for that. It’s meant only for oily skin. If you’re someone with dry or combination skin, they have other variants for you. Check those out.
Coming to its claim of lightening blemishes, I again don’t know! Blemishes go away by themselves at a decent pace and some products do act as a catalyst. My skincare also consists of Glycolic Acid Toner which is known for lightening blemishes, so it’s difficult for me to decide if this moisturizer plays a role in that.
I take two pumps which is quite a generous amount for my face and it gets soaked up instantly. I use it in the morning and at night after cleansing my face.
Overall, it’s a really good and affordable moisturiser for oily-skinned beauties sans any harmful chemicals. This is my absolute favourite for my oily skin and is at the top in my Top 3 Favourite Moisturiser List, the next two being Plum Green Tea Moisturiser and Lotus Herbals Alphamoist Moisturiser.
Anyone who has an oily-skin and are based in India (Availability!), please do give this one a try and you won’t be disappointed.
I honestly can’t think of any negative point, it’s a moisturiser and it does its job– which is to moisturise–really well! But some skin types don’t react well to essential oils and this Aroma Magic moisturizer has quite a few of them. I have sensitive skin and it didn’t do anything bad but every skin is different.
What’s your skin type and which is your favourite moisturiser?😀
